The frist time I heard about Tres Carnales Mexican restaurnt was from my colleague Lisa. We talked about restaurants from the TV show "You Gotta Eat Here!" on Food Network while we ate at Fatburgers after the Pride Parade. We tried to make our way there but it was closed.
We saw the episode broadcasted on Food Network one day. On one Saturday afternoon, we attempted to eat at the restaurant, but it was closed still. We looked for its sign and learned that the restaurant only opens during week days.
We wanted to go out for dinner on a Friday. We decided to try Tres Carnales again, and finally it was open. Tres Canales is a tiny restaurant located in the heart of downtown Edmonton. After lining up and ordered our dishes and drinks, we sat down at a large table and where we shared space with other customers.
I like this guava flavour Jarritos (Mexican soda) a lot. I order it everytime I go to a Mexican restaurant.
I enjoyed the atmosphere at Tres Carnales very much. It was vibrant and relaxing with mexican music. Colourful Mexican decorations embellish the entire restaurant. The servers were attentive and friendly.
Lucha libre (Mexican Wrestling) toys.
Our number tag #13. We were waiting for our food to come.
Spiky lights above our heads. I'm not sure why but the lights just suited the restaurant perfectly.
Tripa Y Panza - Sturgeon Valley Pork belly mixed with Alberta beef tripe. This dish was the feature of the day. One of the owner came to greet us. He was surprised that we were brave enough to try beef trips. They were very tasty!
Freebee! Al Pastor - Sow roasted, marinated pork. The server delivered this dish to our table, and then realized it was not one of our orders. Although we did touch it at all, he still left the dish for us for free since it had been delievered to us.
Chorizo - House-made mexican groud chorizo sausage. The food here were fantastic. We were impressed with the food and service. We will definitely come back!
Conchinita Pibil - Slow cooked spicy Yucatecan pork shoulder. We couldn't finish the freebee after eating the three dishes we ordered.
We parked our car near by MacEwan Alberta Colleage Campus. We had a walk at the area before heading home.
